Southern States Move to Redistrict Under Weakened Voting Rights Act

Republican-led legislatures in Tennessee and Alabama will reconvene in the coming days. Unlike in Tennessee, however, a new map in Alabama will require Supreme Court action.Gov. Kay Ivey of Alabama said on Friday that she would summon lawmakers for a special session to adopt a new congressional map under the newly weakened Voting Rights Act.
