House Passes DHS Funding Bill, Ending Shutdown

Republicans were forced to use a special maneuver to steer around opposition in their own party and speed the measure to the floor, relying on Democratic cooperation to push it through.The legislation pays for Department of Homeland Security operations through Sept. 30, except for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and parts of border patrol, which received an earlier influx of money from a Republican-only bill.
